One of the best ways to learn vocabulary is to see English vocabulary in use: in a context as opposed to just an advanced English vocabulary list.
Follow the instructions below to learn some new words and phrases!
1. Read the extract below. Don’t worry about understanding every word. Just try to understand the gist.
“Something to bear in mind when you move to London is how expensive it is to rent. It’s crucial that you go with enough money, at least enough to cover a deposit. You want to be careful you don’t do what Luca did! He went over there with no savings. He couldn’t find a job … actually he did nothing to help himself. He didn’t do any work or even do an English or anything. I always thought he was quite a bubbly person, but actually he’s a bit lazy. Can’t say he did his best! He had to come back after a month because he’d run out of cash. What a cock-up!”
2. Study the word cards below from our Instagram page (Can you spot the words from the extract above?!)
3. Take the quiz.
TIP! Learn a small amount often and consistently. Practice makes perfect!
